Meditation can be an effective approach towards happiness and personal peace. Whether we are advanced spiritual gurus or meditation novices, a few moments of quiet reflection each day can help us realign the mind’s focus, illuminating the thoughts that give us strength and enrich our lives while moving away from time-consuming worries.
Meditation teacher and spiritual guide Thich Nhat Hanh emphasizes often that meditation is a slow and learned process (sadly, “instant” enlightenment does not exist) and that effort and patience are necessary. However, with enough practice, we hopefully begin to experience one of meditation’s greatest strengths – the ability to release the ego’s emotional hold on our mind.
