Ideas begin with the mind. Our imagination is sparked, something catches fire, and off we go, in the direction of something new, something wonderful. But then our thoughts catch up with us, and they say, “wait, slow down, plan this out first.”
That’s natural – after thousands of years of survival, the human mind is readily equipped to make sure we think in a logical, preplanned way whenever possible. And it makes sense – the greatest achievements often come from careful planning and preparation, in the space between dreaming and doing.
But sometimes we need to say no thanks to the organized part of the mind, and say yes to the creative, action-driven ideas when they arise. There are plenty of moments in life to be cautious and methodical – but when a muse inspires us to move, dance, create, build… we’ve got to simply go out and get started.
