Life is a series of constant changes, each new development on our path a test of our character and inner strength. Some times are easier than others. Some times are more difficult. And some times can be downright scary – but no worldly fear is equal to the great reserve of courage we carry within.
Eleanor Roosevelt, the influential first lady and human rights activist, had this to say about thriving in the face of challenging situations:
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.”
In other words, we must make the decision not to let fear of failure dictate the way we live our lives. At any given moment, we can make the decision to be brave and step closer towards self-understanding and personal strength by slowing down, listening, and following our intrinsic value system.
