Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours. – Swedish Proverb
In a season of celebration and transformation, hope can be a powerful force for shaping the direction of our future. From this moment on, we can start to see the world as a place of potential, a place where good things can and will happen if we allow them to. Here are some simple ways to open the door to optimism in our lives.
Abandon worry. Fear and doubt are the universal antidotes to health and happiness. However, anxious tendencies can be overcome by gently altering our thought process. Tips from meditation and mindfulness traditions can be particularly helpful here – breathe deeply, relax the body, and learn to let all thoughts come and go naturally. Fear fades, while hope remains constant.
Fuel inspiration. Wonder exists wherever we seek to find it. This world is an extraordinary place with extraordinary people, places, and things that can inspire your greatest aspirations. Keep your childlike sense of wonder alive. Live with insatiable curiosity, and never cease to look for hope, even in the smallest of spaces.
Seek the sunlight. Having a destination gives our journeys purpose. Know where you want to be. Know where you want your thoughts to be. Let these directions become mantras in your mind – happiness, healing, health, hope. Keep these lights burning within your being, and look inside to them whenever you need navigation.
All good things shall come in time – never give up hope!
