Art can be a great pathway for the creative part of the mind. Expression helps the self emerge fully, drawing outwards what is beautiful inside of us. And even if we don’t necessarily draw or paint, the following thoughts about art and life can inspire us to live in a way that flows freely with color and passion.

“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.” (John W. Gardner)
Life, like art, is most effective when we concentrate on the present without worrying about perfecting our past.

“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” (Henry Ward Beecher)
Every thing we create in life, no matter how tiny or grand, should carry within it a small bit of ourselves.

“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” (Kurt Vonnegut)
Our fullest existence comes when we act on dreams – even when we fall short, we grow in our mistakes.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” (Pablo Picasso)
Making space for aestheticism and beauty in our surroundings may not change our lives… but it may be the backdrop on which other changes become significant.

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” (Vincent van Gogh)
Our lives are our art – and each action and thought should be taken with the same care as if we were creating lines on a master canvas.

“The earth has music for those who listen.”  (William Shakespeare)
Above all, art helps us see that there is beauty whenever and wherever we choose to find it in this world… and that this beauty, so long as we treasure it, is what will encourage us to keep growing and creating.
